The Parole

Wish! We could live forever,
Stealing kisses on a gondola;
Hiding away from the looker-on,
Ah! Who else than the crimson sun;
Under the rosewood ‘felze’,
While crossing the bridge of sighs;

Wish! You would buy me flowers,
Those lilies and roses, everyday!
And we would spend the night,
Dancing slowly on an unknown tune;
My flowing colored tresses shadowing,
The smiling crescent moon!

Wish! We would walk down,
The cobble-stoned lanes of Athens;
Hand in hand, growing old together,
And take a ferry down to the island;
Listening to the sound of rippling water,
Feeding the white-washed swans, all way;

Wish! I could always play around,
The dimples on your cheeks;
Touch the otherwise nimble lids,
When you are fast asleep;
And glance through those clear eyes,
Around-the-clock, million times;

Wish! All days are calamine,
And all nights painted wild-blue;
All morns be spent kissing you,
And Evenings on golden shores;
Earthen afts be filled with smiles,
And our eyes with dreams galore;

Wish! I could not even wish a thing,
And lay asleep, away from the zing;

And in that slumber, I make not a wish
Rather a promise to your eyes
The promise of pearl and the oyster
My beauty! All yours
Your love! All mine
Together we reside in the love, divine!
